Help resolve an issue with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
LITC helps taxpayers navigate the challenges of navigating a federal tax issue
Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITCs) assist low-income individuals who have a tax dispute with the IRS and provide education and outreach to individuals who speak English as a second language (ESL).
Examples of how the LITC represents low-income taxpayers:
· Help you understand a letter from the IRS
· Tax related identity theft
· Identity Verification
· Tax transcripts and other tax records
· Installment Agreements and Payment Plans
· Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) disallowance
· Offers in Compromise
· Currently not Collectible
· Innocent Spouse Relief
· Audits
· US Tax Court
How do I find out if I qualify for LITC help?
For the 2026 calendar year, the income ceilings (250% of the federal poverty guidelines) for low-income representation are shown below. Each clinic will decide if you meet the income guidelines and other criteria before it agrees to represent you.

Diana
Diana is a single mother of two children. She was confused on why the IRS asked to verify her income and children in order to receive her Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit. LITC assisted her through the process and she received her $4,500 federal refund.
